Las Medulas and Ourense

We had a beautiful drive through the Somiedo Nature Park, definitely a place we should return to, with the possibility of seeing bears!

Las Medulas is an old Roman gold mining area, where tunnels were dug and water flushed through them until they collapsed, leaving a very unusual landscape. The water was then used to separate the particles - very ingenious.

Ourense is a city well know for its Termas pools along the Rio Minho. We had bypassed here in the past but this time stayed near to the river within a short bike ride to one of them - all free!

Two warm pools and one cold one - a bit like a sauna.

The city was worth a day out with some very quirky buildings.

Ticket for the Theatre anyone?

Lots of runners on the river path

Never seen a foot bridge like this!
