Lake Atitlan to the Mexican Border

The road down to Lake Atitlan was steep and rough. We passed a recently crashed lorry and followed an overloaded bus down tight hairpins to the town of San Pedro on the shore.

We stayed in a lovely room at a small place owned by a local family with a great view over the lake, for a bargain price of £11 per night!

We had an enjoyable horse trek on the slopes of Volcan Atitlan. I was riding the slightly stubborn Avril and Phil, Avril's mum, called Tawny.

We have found Guatamala a lovely, colourful and friendly country. Here are some pics before we headed towards the border with Mexico.
