The Paiva walkway and Arouca 516 suspension bridge

After a huge thunderstorm and torrential rain virtually all night we woke to more rain but decided to risk it and drive to the Paiva Walkway and our booked slot at 1130 to walk over the Arouca 516 suspension bridge, one of the longest in the world. Amazingly, the weather cleared and the sun came out!

516 meters long - over half a kilometer!

We were met by a guide who gave us some history on the bridge - in fact that day was its 5th birthday. By coincidence it was Tas's birthday too! We spent about an hour walking over and then back to continue the walk to Espiunca.

At Espiunca we had a well earned lunch and then caught a taxi back to the truck near the start.
