Inland to the Coa valley

We decided to head inland to slightly better weather after rain was forecast and our first stop was for a walk at Faia Brava nature reserve in the Coa valley, a beautiful place.

The Rio Coa

Not a bad view!

Phil resting his back

If he stays too long here he might
become an exhibit!

He was lovely and rushed over for some
attention, then let out a mighty Hee Haw

In the same valley we had a guided tour of some very old rock carvings - 12000 to 20000 years old. The tour started in the village of Castelo Mehor where we were driven to the Penascosa site in an old Nissan Patrol.

Strangely, many of the carvings were over the top of previous ones, making it difficult to see exactly what was there - good job we had a good guide.

What can you see?
