The Hill Town of Sintra

On Sunday we visited the old hill town of Sintra and took the bus from the campsite, later realising that the clocks had changed that morning. We were lucky that our phone had auto corrected! Our first visit was the Park and Palace of Monserrate.

Next we visited the Quinta da Regaleira built by an eccentric Free Mason and started by descending the intriguing Initiation Well. Amazingly, although it was built in the early 1900's it seems on one seems to know what it was built for!

The well leads down to a series of tunnels which lead outside further down the hill. Its amazing that all this was built just for fun.

We spent a lovely evening in Sintra before an Uber ride back to the campsite.

Dee took a short trip to the beach on 'Sandy' the Brompton!
