Salar de Uyuni and altiplano

We visited the Salar de Uyuni, a massive salt lake, the largest in the world. It covers an area of 10,582 sq km (4,086 sq miles). To put this in perspective Suffolk covers 3,798 sq km (1,466 sq miles) and Wales is 20,779 sq km (8,022 sq miles)!!

A train cemetary nearby.

The Dakar rally was here!

High on the altiplano we saw many amazing rock formations, lakes and volcanoes.

The Sol de Manana volcano crater at 5000 metres!
