Volcanos and beaches

Some of the places that we have been to on our way north in Chile:

Volcan Osorno:

The smoking Volcan Villarica, well a tiny amount!

We stayed at Valdivia, where the left overs from a fish market backing onto the river attracts lots of sea lions. Some were massive!

Volcan Lonquimay and a beautiful walk around it's slopes, through hundreds of monkey puzzle trees and views of other volcanos in the distance.

We travelled to the coast to see some big surf beaches at Los Lobos and Pichulemu, however, a thick sea mist meant we couldn't see much!

Chilenos sun bathing in the sea mist!

This was Dee on an early morning run. The sea is on her left!

This lovely dog ran along with us and back to our hostel where we had to say adios!

At Pisco Elqui in the Elqui valley with better weather and excellent stargazing. This was our cabin:

We stayed at Bahia Inglesia, where the desert meets the sea -  it's described as like the Caribbean!

Then further north we entered the Atacama desert where we found loads of open cast mines and associated lorries and rubbish. We still had some beautiful views:

But just out of shot, and in the middle of nowhere was this!

We were glad to reach the 'hand in the desert' as we neared the end of our day.

Can you see our new perro, he fits snugly in the tank bag! Only joking, he belonged to a family who took the photo for us!
